In the Krefting reading, she stated "Hannah Gadsby's widely viewed stand-up comedy special Nanete tackles pressing social justice issues like gender violence, sexual assault, and homophobia." (93) I thought about the topic of agency from a few weeks back. It seems like Gadsby is using agency to reach out to a new audience and teach of the dangers of gender violence while also telling a few jokes. She is spreading the word and advocating against gender violence, sexual assault and homophobia in a new way. Later on in the article Krefting mentions that Gadsby left out some horrific details of some stories previous comedy specials but added the details in Nanette. I believe she does this because since this is produced and aired on Netflix she has a much bigger crowd to spread her message.

This reminds me of what is currently going on with Dave Chappelle. Chappelle is currently in some hot water because of some jokes made in his new stand up special The Closer. It is ironic that this weeks reading about Gadsby is right in the middle of the controversy surrounding Chappelle considering his stand up special is the exact opposite of Gadsby's and many think send an anti LGBTQ message.
