The article, "White Fragility," by Robin DiAngelo, defines racism in an interesting way. The author dictates that scholars define racism no just in terms of skin color, but they take into account economic status, social structures, and the unequal distribution of privilege. Taking all of these factors into account determines that there can be no racism against white people because the scales of privilege are tipped in their favor always. DiAngelo uses language that describes the privilege that accompanies whiteness, and makes it clear that it is synonymous with privilege (DiAngelo 2011).

DiAngelo describes how white people have segregated themselves. They write about how white people want to surround themselves with other white people, and these groups are very difficult for people of color to breach. I found it interesting that Gray says white people are taught to ignore this lack of diversity in their daily lives and surround themselves with other white people (DiAngelo 2011). I found this interesting because I do notice a lack of diversity in my daily life and I wonder if this is because I subconsciously orchestrated that, or if that is just how it turned out.
