For this week's discussion, I chose Zabalegi's article, which I found very powerful in its account of the experience of forced imprisonment in which three women were killed in Euskal Herria and four men were arrested for violence against women in Navarra. Feminist struggle, organizing and resistance continue from this isolation within houses and apartments. The Euskal Herria feminist movement consists of many collectives operating locally and/or nationally. They demand that life be at the center. Public protest against misogynistic violence and collective self-defense has become the mantra of Euskal Herria feminist resistance. Despite the Spanish government's provision of universal health care, the coronavirus has highlighted the need to center life - far beyond hegemonic life. The Basque Feminist Collective issued a statement on the current health care crisis. the Euskal Herria feminist movement recognizes the need for a collective response and urges everyone to mobilize in their own communities to help their neighbors. As care has collapsed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the neoliberal model of care must be changed to put life at the center. It is important to express concern about the measures being taken to respond to the care crisis, as we believe they may worsen the situation. We believe that civil society, a forgotten force, should play a greater role in the response to the crisis... is facing a social collapse because it is not prepared to face the bio-ecological-political catastrophe of society and the lack of public services in the country. The social paradigm must be changed. The feminist movement has not ceded political agency to a male-dominated world. The feminist movement of Euskal Herria is ready to assume responsibility for women's lives and will be present at the care coordination bureau created by the Basque and Navarra governments. The public authorities must recognize the feminist movement as an effective interlocutor and accept its voice and give it a voice, dialogue and decision-making capacity, because what we want from them is the issue of moral and political responsibility.
