In Nelsen’s article “The World Traveling Self: Play as Context and Tool of Critical Literacy.”, she mentions that many people are required to follow a prescriptive "pace guide," which sets out the content and steps. Therefore, teaching strategies limit the game participation in classroom literacy learning. Students explore complex text practices to help them understand themselves and the world of social culture.
In my opinion, class should include listening, speaking, reading, writing, acting, singing, painting, doing, and other forms of combination, allowing students to use their hands, brains, and mouths in accordance with their curiosity, love of movement, and flexible thinking characteristics, allowing them to be more engaged in their homework. I learned an article called Back when I was in junior high school, in which the author recalled the incident when he watched his father leave. Our teacher instructed the students to write a letter to their father based on the author's inspiration for his father's emotional reaction in the text, and then deliver it to him. The assignment allows students to gain a better understanding of the subject. The project allows students to have a better understanding of the author's genuine thoughts towards his father while also igniting their interest in learning. However, in my high school, even PPT was rarely used in class, and Play or Game were unthinkable. Every day, my classmates and I spent writing exercises and studying exam questions, not to mention playing games, which depressed me. I even felt as though time was slowing down and that I had no desire to learn new things.
To acquire a good score on an exam, Chinese students spend hours completing exercises and memorizing right answers, but they forget them shortly thereafter because we don't really learn that much. Students lack originality and critical thinking, and they are frequently guided to know the solution rather than communicating, interacting, and thinking independently.
